WIT Campus Accommodation FAQ’s
1. How do I apply for accommodation?
It’s simple – visit the web site

2. What do I need to apply for WIT Campus Accommodation?
You will need the deposit, details of your course, bank details (to which the deposit is returned at the end of the Academic Year) & some personal information i.e home address, date of birth etc.
3. How much is the deposit?
The deposit is 400. All cancellations will be subject to an administration fee of 100.00. This must be done in writing (email/fax) or by phone call. Applicants must inform WIT Campus Services – Accommodation of their cancellation in writing or by email within 3 days of the CAO results being issued.
For students currently living in WIT Campus accommodation – we will deduct 100 from your current deposit before June 01st and the balance of 300 must be paid in full by July 1st or you will lose your reservation.
4. How do I choose the right accommodation?
The WIT Campus accommodation team can assist you with making a choice but where you live is a personal decision. College Fields is ideal for students who wish to be near the Main Campus, especially for those involved in out of hour’s activities such as sports. Manor Village is located closer to College Street campus, but with a free bus service each morning and afternoon, getting to the Cork Road campus couldn’t be simpler. If you hope to work during your time at WIT, Manor Village is close to the city centre.
5. When can I check in? If I arrive early can I check in?
The earliest check-in date for the Academic Year 2011/12 is Wednesday 31st August 2011. Unfortunately we are unable to facilitate an earlier check in date.
6. Can I check in if I have not paid my rent?
Full prepayment of the semester rent is required before keycards will be issued.
7. Where do I get my key?
Your keys can be collected from the village reception upon arrival.
8. Who will I live with?
WIT Campus Accommodation apartments consist of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom apartments. We endeavour to put first year students together similar to putting second, third and fourth year students together. We try to mix apartments equally between males and females. Any student who is in "twin room" accommodation must accept that Management reserves the right to fill all beds as they see fit. However if you know of another person who may be booking Campus Accommodation also we can certainly facilitate if you wish to share the one apartment.
9. Will there be enough accommodation?
There is plenty of WIT Campus accommodation available but in order to get exactly what you want, you should make your reservation as early as possible.
10. How do I pay the rent?
Your WIT Campus accommodation costs are paid in two instalments – the first in September, before you move into the property. The second instalment is due the 1st week of January. It is possible to pay monthly in advance. However in order to cover the administration of this, an extra charge will be added to the monthly payment totalling 24 for the full term)
Payment is made by standing order (your bank transfers the money) and you would be liable for any charges should you have insufficient funds in your account to make the payment. Forms are available from Manor Village and the Main Accommodation Office.
11. What is included in the rent?
Your rent covers your occupancy of the property from September for 38 weeks. Each apartment is supplied with a television set which is located in the living area. Broadband is available at Manor Village and College Fields.
12. What other costs should I expect?
Electricity is charged for the duration of your occupancy. At Manor Village, the meter readings are taken on the first day of the licence agreement and sent to the ESB. Bills are issued every two months and should be paid directly to reception in Manor Village.
The final meter reading is taken on the last day of the licence agreement and again sent to the ESB for a final bill. This sum is taken from your deposit and a copy of the bill sent to you with the balance. The cost of electricity is shared equally amongst the residents of each apartment.
All students are responsible for their individual apartments for having a TV licence.
College Fields apartments operate on Electricity cards which may be purchased at a variety of locations, including Secretarial Services.
Refuse charges are also payable – this is paid in a lump sum at the beginning of the year and covers the cost of weekly refuse removal and the recycling centre.
Car Park - this can be paid in a lump sum of 200 or can be paid weekly or monthly.
13. What do I need to bring with me?
Each apartment has a fully fitted kitchen with crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils. You will require bed linen, duvet, pillow, towels, and tea towels.
Your bedroom has a bed, desk, chair, bookshelves and wardrobe. We provide each bed with a mattress protector.
14. How can my parents contact me by telephone?
There are operational telephones in every house in the apartments. However calls can only be received, no outgoing calls can be made. The number will be provided during check in.
15. Where will my parents & others send my mail?

16. Where can I do my laundry?
Both Manor Village & College Fields have a fully staffed Launderette. The cost is 8 for a 5kg bag of washing, which will be washed, dried and folded for you on your return.
17. Is smoking allowed?
Smoking is permitted in designated apartments; however you are requested to respect non-smokers. We cannot guarantee that the residents you share with will be smokers or non smokers.
18. Where is WIT located in relation to the city centre? Can I walk there?
The college is located on the Cork Road in Waterford City. The City centre is about 10 minutes by bus/taxi. It would take approx 30 minutes to walk and this us not advisable by night.
19. What if I change my mind or find alternative accommodation? Do I get my deposit back?
Unfortunately, given the high demand for on-campus accommodation, you will forfeit your deposit should you wish to cancel your booking with us. Furthermore you will be liable for all rent owing if you have a contract signed.
20. Are the rooms insured?
Insurance for personal items such as PCs, laptops, stereos and other personal belongings are not covered.
